The Maquis Episode 1.
Technically it is paradise, but it feels equivalent enough.

It technically goes back to Roddenberry.
First, Roddenberry still wrote the Federation as having some faults. A major plot point in Star Trek VI is that Starfleet is attempting a coup of the Federation to keep the cold war going. In early TNG, the Federation is seen as entertaining ending Data’s rights and allows a Federation colony to deteriorate to the level of drug wars.
Roddenberry had also written a treatment for a post-Federation time where a Federation ship goes into the future and rebuilds the Federation from scratch. That show became Andromeda, but the concept ended up being used in Discovery and Starfleet Academy.

I hate working from home. I find that I can’t get into the headspace to work while at home. I find coordination is a pain in the ass and you get to better understand what is going on by physically being there.
It is also frustrating dealing with people who say they are “doing their work” but you find out that they didn’t coordinate like they said they would and the two things they designed don’t interact with each other.

This is a continuation of Xi solidifying control over the government, which is a break from the post-Mao CCP in having power more diffused across different people. It is likely that the corruption allegations are correct, but bribing officials to win government contracts are pretty par for the course for people in those positions.

By DS9, it was bluntly stated that Earth was a utopia.

I disagree.
If we are talking about starting companies, poor people start companies all the time. You don’t need to be rich to start a company.
As for having access to capital to create our expand a business, that doesn’t need to come from a rich person or a collection of rich people. For instance, a lot of investment comes from pension funds, which are made up of the savings of many people.

I feel like a lot of fascists try to bake in a lot of hierarchy as the natural order, that this is what nature intended.
Queer people end up being an example that the way nature is isn’t as clearly defined as the fascists say it should be

A lot of sci-fi read as fantasy, including a lot of the competent man genre.

They shut down third party apps. Here’s good enough I guess.

3D printing has found its niche in being able to create custom plastic models at a cost far lower than injection molding. That’s been big for RPG and wargaming as a way to create better boards at an acceptable cost. I’ve also seen some toys sold that are obviously 3D prints, which shows the technology’s viability as a part of a commercial production line. These are use cases where 3D printing is the best option available, so the technology gets used.
I don’t see that equivalent for consumer scale VR/AR. The state of the industry for VR tech seems be to sell rented experiences where the VR tech is integrated into an experience with other equipment or defined spaces. Thats an equivalent to when computer games were rented in arcades.

Having read a lot of what you’ve recently written, I would work in your parents’ small business and train yourself to take it over.
You’re struggling with a lot of issues that are preventing you from thriving and part of those issues are made worse by not being economically independent. That you’re pointing out that homelessness is a risk seems to indicate that you don’t have enough savings to pursue your own path to freedom.

Regarding the NJ election, it became obvious that the former Lieutenant Governor bent the knee to AIPAC, both to get money to support her campaign and also to fund a smear campaign against former representative Tom Malinowski since Tom wanted some conditions on aid to Israel.
Looks like AIPAC got Tom out, but Analilia Mejia is likely going to be far worse for them

Budweiser was bought by InBev, the same company that makes Stella Artois and Beck. That would give InBev the right to make Budweiser anywhere it owns a brewery.

I think that you always run into the issue that you look like an idiot using it and you need to do something special to use it.

Perpetual motion is only believed by people who took basic level physics and think they can trick the equations they were given.

The problem is that a tablet ends up just being a cheap computer, but Android requires a lot more involvement of OEM’s to update compared to Windows.

It is recent, but
There’s no joy in my life There’s no joy when I’m right I know what they say when I walk in the light There’s no joy

Working in an industry that sometimes requires photos to be taken for documentation purposes, cameras that are cameras alone have been abandoned for years. The camera on a phone or tablet is considered good enough, with the most attention recently given to wearable cameras or drones.
Innovation happened, but not within the existing camera form.

Having used phones 15 years ago, it wasn’t. There may be some cases where a phone could live on longer, but two years was generally a decent cadence to buy a new phone.
Once you get to the 5-10 year mark, cameras on phones were generally good enough for most users.
DS9 also makes it clear why the populace accepts martial law so cleanly and that part of it comes from a people who live in paradise and aren’t used to threats in their security.
That this episode was made 5 years before 9/11 is astounding in what it gets right about the populace of a democratic system filled with comfortable people accept a loss of liberty due to a perceived external threat.
