  • Emo was more than ten years ago, ten years ago was 2016.

oooh you’re right… I was in grad school when Emo was happening… I remember someone trying to start a conversation with me about goth vs emo and I was like: I’m trying to finish school, I don’t have time for that kinda thing… lel… I mean I thought MCR’s second album was pretty awesome but that’s about it…

  • OK you’re right. the scales are:

    • on a scale of all US adults, the percentage who have a college degree
    • on a scale of all readers who primarily get their news from (given magazine), the percentage who have a college degree

So the scales are still different.

I’m guessing they’d make an argument that: “If the college graduate readership were distributed evenly across all news sources, then (given magazine) would have (the percentage of all US adults who have a college degree).” But the labels don’t say that, which is why it is confusing.

  • Sorry to hear about your tooth pains. Is this your first extraction? I had one removed a couple years ago and it was kinda weird not having a tooth at first, but the procedure was virtually painless. even tho it was apparently a “difficult” removal… to me that just meant it took a little longer than most procedures. (Modern pain management is awesome, during my first root canal I even started snoring at one point when I almost fell asleep.) Anyway it was a little odd not having a tooth while it healed enough to get an implant, but now I’ve basically forgotten that it was ever out. Since I’m the US, of course the hardest part was that apparently someone made a data entry error so I had to make several phone calls and write a letter explaining that I DO have health insurance…

  • Gary Oldman kills it, but some truly terrible acting from Winona Rider and Keanu Reeves (bless his heart - it was early in his career!) Along from bad acting from two of the main characters, this movie also has some of the worst accents I’ve ever heard - even Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing struggles to get what is supposed to be a Dutch accent, and the guy playing the American is just grating. But the costumes and sets are outstanding, some of the best I’ve seen in any movie. The score is pretty good too, but this is a great movie to play in the background with the sound off (as long as you can forget how clumsy is Winona Rider’s acting).
