Blahaj Lemmy Meta@lemmy.blahaj.zone•How do I start a new community within this instance?
1·22 hours agoBlorp dev here. I never added support for community creation. The number of features to support is a little overwhelming, and growing quickly with PieFed. My philosophy is a little bit “wait to do something until it can be done correctly”. But if it’s confusing, maybe I can add a link out to the default UI as a stop gap solution. Create community felt lower priority since it’s an action that you do very very infrequently compared to create post.
Eventually I would like to support most features except admin features. I don’t think Blorp will ever be an admin UI. But a good goal would be to make mods and regular users 100% happy.

cats@lemmy.world•Sometimes at work I'll take a break, pull up my security camera at home, and watch Noodle sleeping.
2·2 days agoSorry for my very Lemmy take but Roku security cameras are gonna be a hell no from me. But I’ve been very happy my ubiquity protect camera. All the footage is stored locally on an NVR built into my router.

Photography@lemmy.ml•Picked up this brand new TTArtisan 35mm fixed f 1.4 to 16 lens for 15 quid today. Absolutely adore the vintage early 2000s vibe it gives to shots.
1·2 days agoThis is very similar to my digital camera setup! I recently pivoted into some film photography. I’m shooting on some vintage cameras from the 80s, getting my negatives developed at the lab, then scanning on the Fuji XS-10.
I’ve been tempted to switch to the XT5, but honestly the XS-10 has treated me so well, I can’t really justify it. I might be developing some gear acquisition syndrome 😅

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•Just found out a song I like sampled vocals from an AI-generated song. Feeling conflicted and want other people's thoughts.
2·2 days agoFor GitHub, I was interviewing someone recently who had a large open source project on their portfolio. My coworker pointed out that it had to be vibe coded simply because they wrote an inhuman amount of code in a short period of time. That could be one way to tell.

5·2 days agoI would guess that Boston Massachusetts has the best bike lanes in America, but there are many American cities I haven’t been to. I have bike lanes in my town, but nothing like I saw in Boston. That city takes biking very seriously.

3·3 days agoNooo you’re just taking the Bible out of context! God actually wants people to kill the sons
Then God said, “Take your son to the land of Moriah and kill your son there as a sacrifice for me. This must be Isaac, your only son, the one you love. Use him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains there. I will tell you which mountain.”
Genesis 22:2
/s but the Bible really does say this so also wtf lol

PieFed Meta@piefed.social•Don't like the PieFed UI design? Try this!
1·4 days agoThought about it. Blorp is a client side rendered app. It makes it really easy to host since it’s just a collection of static html, JS, and CSS files, but not the best for SEO. From what I can tell, Google’s crawler can run JS but I don’t think Bing (which I think DuckDuckGo is based on?) can.
It’s pretty difficult trying to share 99% code between web and “native” iOS/Android apps. I decided early on that SEO would add one too many constraints with not enough benefit. But SEO aside, I think linking back to the software somewhere in the UI would be nice so users can learn more about the app they’re using.

PieFed Meta@piefed.social•To all of those new to Piefed.social - welcome, and this post might be helpful
6·5 days agoBlorp dev here. Trying to support all PieFed features but I’m a little behind:
Currently working on:
- PieFed feeds (basically the same as Lemmy v1 multi community support)
Up next:
- Emoji reactions
- Create poll posts
- Create event posts
The PieFed devs are very fast and a little hard to keep up with 😅. But tbh, we already support more than enough of the PieFed api for you to have a great time imo. Please reach out to me if a specific one of those missing features is preventing you from joining.
Blorp can also be installed on Android via Google Play or F-Droid, and there is also a web version blorpblorp.xyz.

13·5 days agoThank you for sharing my PieFed/Lemmy UI! Btw, if you’re in the progress of migrating from Lemmy to PieFed, you can login to both Lemmy and PieFed simultaneously via blorpblorp.xyz. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with bug reports or feature requests. The best way to report those is GitHub, but I also read PieFed/Lemmy comments.

politics @lemmy.world•Democrats launch aggressive campaign to win back infrequent voters
4·6 days agoI have to disagree with the hard to feel bad part . I’m American. Every election I’ve ever voted in has been plagued with Trump. I didn’t spend 80 years saying that it couldn’t happen here. I’ve never really seen what an election without Trump looks like. At least not one that I was old enough to participate in. It’s difficult for me to not feel that the older generations have let my generation down. That’s where my frustration lies. I don’t think the younger generation deserves the blame yet.
I don’t mean to sound morbid, but I’m excited that boomers are close to aging out of politics (aka dying). Will be nice to finally have some younger representation. Too bad it couldn’t have happened sooner.

2·6 days agoBlorp dev here. Linking the GitHub page if you wanna see all the ways you can download Blorp https://github.com/Blorp-Labs/blorp
Is this going in a database? I don’t know if I see the advantage of breaking apart company data into lots of little pieces. Why not just have a single object per company, and then have position, duration, and location be nullable/optional strings. And achievement can be an array of strings.
Also, are you rending this to a webpage that you print, or did you wanna output directly to a PDF?
It was actually Mr orange in the oval room with the diaper
they’ve had decently waterproof phones for years
That’s the reaction of billionaires when they realize they have a backup planet while they kill earth. Everyone else is fucked

Blorp dev here. I’m based out of US. But since I actually lose money on Blorp, I would argue you are kinda supporting Canada indirectly. If that’s not enough to convince you, I would consider moving to Canada if you’re accepting applications.
