  • Blorp dev here. I never added support for community creation. The number of features to support is a little overwhelming, and growing quickly with PieFed. My philosophy is a little bit “wait to do something until it can be done correctly”. But if it’s confusing, maybe I can add a link out to the default UI as a stop gap solution. Create community felt lower priority since it’s an action that you do very very infrequently compared to create post.

Eventually I would like to support most features except admin features. I don’t think Blorp will ever be an admin UI. But a good goal would be to make mods and regular users 100% happy.

  • Thought about it. Blorp is a client side rendered app. It makes it really easy to host since it’s just a collection of static html, JS, and CSS files, but not the best for SEO. From what I can tell, Google’s crawler can run JS but I don’t think Bing (which I think DuckDuckGo is based on?) can.

It’s pretty difficult trying to share 99% code between web and “native” iOS/Android apps. I decided early on that SEO would add one too many constraints with not enough benefit. But SEO aside, I think linking back to the software somewhere in the UI would be nice so users can learn more about the app they’re using.

  • I have to disagree with the hard to feel bad part . I’m American. Every election I’ve ever voted in has been plagued with Trump. I didn’t spend 80 years saying that it couldn’t happen here. I’ve never really seen what an election without Trump looks like. At least not one that I was old enough to participate in. It’s difficult for me to not feel that the older generations have let my generation down. That’s where my frustration lies. I don’t think the younger generation deserves the blame yet.

I don’t mean to sound morbid, but I’m excited that boomers are close to aging out of politics (aka dying). Will be nice to finally have some younger representation. Too bad it couldn’t have happened sooner.

  • Is this going in a database? I don’t know if I see the advantage of breaking apart company data into lots of little pieces. Why not just have a single object per company, and then have position, duration, and location be nullable/optional strings. And achievement can be an array of strings.

Also, are you rending this to a webpage that you print, or did you wanna output directly to a PDF?
