Discord has made communicating with a small group of friends who moved to different cities stay in touch daily while playing games, chatting in voice, and streaming stuff to share. Voice and text are great, but the streaming is how we share the in game moments we used to be able to see in person.

The main thing I will miss from discord is the ease of streaming with a small group of friends. That was main reason we chose it over alternatives back in the day.

Someone who uses stack overflow to solve a problem will be doing testing to confirm it worked as part of an overall development workflow.

Using an LLM as a doctor is like vibe coding, where there is no testing or quality control.

Rawdogging the first response from stack overflow to try and fix a coding issue isn’t going to kill someone.

Reply explaining why their view is terrible so that then they can complain that they are getting dogpiled for having a opinion and not everyone needs to reply.

I work 2 days in the office and three from home. It is a perfect balance, where I can do the in person interactions with non-technical people who need that connection and then buckle down and get a bunch of work done without office distractions the other three days.

It does help that I have a work area from distractions in the home, not quite an office but with a door at least.

Reduced commute (especially when the weather is crummy!), not needing to dress up on wfh days, eating food at home and being able to do house chores on breaks are the biggest benefit although the money saved is nice too.
