      Yeah, that’s right. Not the twisty bit. That’s a big version of a soil auger’s normal not and is good for making a pilot hole or getting you to the depth you want to sample.

      The pointy one is the one you use to sample. It has a fin on it. You open the fin, stuff the thing down the hole and then turn it 180 degrees, and pull up (swearing the whole time - it’s hard).

      It gives you a nice core of peat
